Terms of use
These terms apply to retrace.video and app.retrace.video. Using the service means accepting them. They are short on purpose: the pricing is the product, so it is stated here exactly as it is charged.

What Retrace does
Retrace extracts frames from a video and searches them with third-party visual search engines, to find pages that show the same footage. Results depend on what those engines have indexed: we cannot promise that a video's source is findable, that every copy is found, or that the earliest result is the original.
Prices and balance
The scan and the match count are free. Seeing where the matches are costs $0.90 per search. A Trace, the frame-by-frame pass, costs $0.03 / frame, between $1.50 and $9.90, and the price is shown before you buy it. There is no subscription.
Payment always adds balance to a wallet, from $1.90. Searches are paid from that balance. The balance does not expire and is not money held on deposit: it can only be spent on Retrace. Prices are in US dollars and include any applicable taxes.
Refunds
If a paid search finds nothing, half its price goes back to your balance automatically. If a paid search cannot run because of a fault on our side, all of it goes back.
Unused balance can be refunded to the original card if you ask within 14 days of the top-up. By running a search you ask for it to be performed straight away, and the amount spent on searches already performed is not refundable.
What you may not use it for
Locating, identifying, following or harassing a private person; searching for intimate or sexual images of anyone without their consent; anything involving minors in a sexual context; or any other unlawful purpose. Only upload videos you are entitled to use. We may refuse a search, suspend an account or report content to the authorities when the law requires it, and an account suspended for misuse is not refunded.
Liability
The links in the results belong to third parties; we do not control or endorse them. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the previous twelve months. Nothing here limits the rights you have as a consumer.
Changes and applicable law
We will announce changes on this page before they apply; the price of a search already paid for never changes. Nothing in these terms takes away the consumer protection of the country you live in, including your right to bring a claim before its courts.
